In the beginning of October, KNX was invited to a conference entirely devoted to the topic of Security organized by the Smart Home Initiative Deutschland, in Bad Soden, near Frankfurt. KNX again stressed that when taking the necessary measures, even "traditional" KNX installations can be made secure. However, with KNX secure, it is now possible to prevent a hacker from eavesdropping during device configuration (with ETS) and during runtime (replay or manipulation of telegrams is no longer possible), regardless whether the installation is based on TP, RF or IP. KNX Secure bases on internationally standardized algorithms (AES128) and is in the meanwhile a standard in its own right (EN 50090-3-4).
