Energy Efficiency

The usage of automated functions already save energy in every installation. Especially the usage of KNX has a lot of potential for further energy savings, which can contribute to a better environmental footprint. Be extending KNX to more functions and applications, energy savings of up to 60% can be realised. Thanks to the flexibility of KNX, these functions can easily be implemented in this installation

Smart homes and buildings are always an upgrade in comparison to a conventional installation. Not only automated functions and a higher level of comfort contribute to a higher living standard, but also the possibility to be ready for coming innovations. Thanks to the usage of KNX, the door has been opened to integrate new innovative solutions, using the worldwide STANDARD for home and building control.

Description des clients

This self build project was completed by the owner, a developer himself. There was a requirement to take the lighting, heating, shading & motorised windows all under the same control syetm so KNX was the logical choice. Function Control designed a system around Gira pushbuttons and X1 visualisation server and at a later date added the Gira S1 for secure access and voice control. The system controls a mix of under floor heating & radiators as well as the lighting & blinds in the open plan kitchen/dining/living space. There are 2 roof windows brought under the control including rain sensors to block them from opening incase of bad weather. The project also has a solar water heater which is monitored by KNX which can inhibit the solar from trying to heat the water and switch to gas boiler if the solar isn't heating sufficiently.
