Windancer weather stations are KNX-Secure

The weather stations in the Windancer range have been converted to KNX Data Secure. The update was used to further develop the device in numerous areas. According to the manufacturer, the fact that the price could be reduced at the same time is due to optimisations in both development and production. This has enabled the product to be improved across the board – to the benefit of building owners and integrators.
Proven measurement technology and shading control
The Windancer 2.0 KNX sec relies on proven measurement technology with a cup anemometer and sensors for brightness, precipitation and temperature. The wind sensor technology has proven in the wind tunnel that it can withstand hurricane-force winds of 200 km/h. All the technology is housed in a compact unit that connects directly to the KNX Secure system. No additional interfaces or evaluation devices are required.
As usual, two models are available to meet different requirements. The measured weather data is processed internally using configurable thresholds and AND/OR logic gates. The Windancer 2.0 GPS KNX sec model receives the GPS signal. This provides time functions and the position of the sun. This is used primarily in the integrated shading automation. Special parameters, e.g. for slat tracking and safety functions, facilitate the setup of precise shading control for eight façades.
Simpler, faster, clearer
To make working in the KNX application easier, the interface has been better structured and supplemented with icons. This makes navigation easier and quicker for the human eye. A context help feature often eliminates the need to consult the manual.
An extended secure key table containing over 1,000 keys is available for communication in accordance with the KNX Data Secure standard. The integration of semantic data also enables Smart Linking. The Windancer 2.0 KNX sec weather stations are ready for this new ETS functionality. The automatic linking of compatible KNX devices and functions significantly reduces the need for manual configuration.
The new ‘Live Data Adjustment’ function helps with customisation for the project: the current measured value for wind, temperature or brightness is set as a new threshold value via a communication object.
With these targeted enhancements, Windancer 2.0 is a compact KNX weather station “Made in Germany”. The sensors and functions are tailored to the smart automation of a single-family home. The fact that the target market is also international is demonstrated, for example, by a parameter that reverses the east/west direction, thereby simplifying projects in the southern hemisphere.
