Customers Description
Der Stephansdom Wien mit der berühmten Glocke Pummerin ist weltbekanntes Kulturgut und Wahrzeichen Wiens. Er zählt zum UNESCO Weltkulturerbe. Mehrmals täglich werden Gottesdienste gefeiert, oftmals auch Hochzeiten und Requien bedeutender Persönlichkeiten sogar live im Fernsehen übertragen. Zu solch besonderen Anlässen und hohen Feiertagen läutet die Pummerin Festgottesdienste ein.
Die romanische Kirche St. Stephan im Herzen Wiens wurde im Jahr 1147 geweiht. Laufend wurden Umgestaltungen und bauliche Erweiterungen unter z.B. spätromanischen und barocken Einflüssen durchgeführt, 1450 begann der Bau des Nordturms.
Widrigkeiten wie Türkenbelagerungen, Feuersbrünste und Kriege überstand der Stephansdom 800 Jahre lang fast unbeschädigt. Bis in den letzten Wochen des 2. Weltkrieges ein Brand den Dom in Schutt und Asche versetzte. Aber aufgrund des Engagements und der Liebe der Bürger wurde er 7 Jahre danach wiedereröffnet
